She Rides On The Wind

He drove a vintage sports car
liked to play an electric guitar
In a band with his old school mates
At frat nights and college dates

She was a beauty to behold,
A grade A student with a heart of gold
At first site he swept her away
In a whirlwind

They made a dazzling pair,
Like royals in a fairy tale,
Everything seemed to be so right,
Seemed they found the perfect life.

But perfect didn't last for long.
Signs were showing and something was wrong,
She came home early and caught him there
And the truth laid bare

Now she rides on the wind,
Searching for what might have been,
Calling his name down every trail,
In the wailing wind, in the mighty gales.

She tried to make a new start,
But love had plainly torn her apart
Haunting her days and stealing her rest,
Losing hope from the terrible mess.

We tried to bring her round,
But couldn't reach her, she was too far down
One dark night up very late,
She made good her escape.

Now she rides on the wind,
Searching for what might have been,
Calling his name down every trail,
In the wailing wind, in the mighty gales.
